MY PRIDE

Mahuma Arts & Communications My Pride is an electrifying musical stage play which focuses on people living with disabilities: their daily experiences, challenges both negative and positive, and their motivation. “Disability is not incapability” is the dominant message of this production that features a live band, dancers, actors and musicians who are living with some form of disability. “This is the time to wake up and realise that we are all disabled, the difference is the type and degree of our disabilities, some of us are physically disabled whilst others are consciously disabled” says writer Paul Rapetsoa.

Awareness drive warns on social networking pitfalls.

Schoolchildren and parents have been warned against the pitfalls of using social networking sites like MXit, Facebook, Twitter and the peculiarly named Toilet, which is based in Russia.

The Limpopo Youth Commission and Gauteng-based multimedia group Mahuma Arts and Communication held a two-day awareness campaign in Polokwane last week.

"We want parents to monitor children who have access to cellphones and can access these social networking media. We have lots of cases where young people fail at school and some are raped or killed by people they meet on these sites," said Limpopo Youth Commission spokeswoman Thembi Siweya.
